The QS University Rankings: EECA – a ranking of the top universities in Emerging Europe and Central Asia – is being extended this year to feature an additional 50 institutions.
First published in a pilot edition last year, the ranking aims to highlight growing academic excellence in the EECA region, where many nations have placed a high priority on developing and internationalizing their higher education and research frameworks.
This year’s QS University Rankings: EECA, due to be published on 21 October, will see the listing extended from 100 to 150 universities, with a total of 20 countries in the EECA region now represented.
Results to be discussed at Istanbul launch event
The ranking results will be debated at a launch event hosted by Boğaziçi University in Istanbul on 21 October. This will provide an opportunity for attendees to discuss the challenges and opportunities for ambitious universities in the EECA region, strategies for internationalization, and approaches to various areas of collaboration.
Dasha Karzunina, International Research Liaison in the QS Intelligence Unit, anticipates that the results will provide valuable insights for both higher education professionals and prospective students.
“For this second edition of the EECA rankings, we are excited to announce that we have been able to recognize the excellence of an additional 50 universities,” Karzunina says. “We further hope that this edition will be even more interesting to regionally mobile students, as the list of ranked countries now welcomes two additional potential destinations.”
More universities evaluated for inclusion this year
The EECA ranking is created using a methodology adapted from that used for the overall QS World University Rankings®, with universities assessed in nine areas: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, staff with a PhD, papers per faculty member, citations per paper, international faculty members, international students, and web impact.
