We’re proud to announce that the QS online marketing team has been shortlisted for this year’s British Media Awards, in the Marketing Team of the Year category. The award winners will be announced on 7 May 2014 at a ceremony in London, alongside the winners of categories such as Print Product of the Year, Launch of the Year, Media Company of the Year and Commercial Campaign of the Year.

Aiming to highlight success and innovations in the media world, the British Media Awards are open to a wide range of media outlets, including newspapers, magazines, events companies, broadcasters, media technology suppliers, online platforms, B2B publishers and mobile-based publishers.

This year’s British Media Awards shortlist includes well-known brands such as Google, Yahoo, BBC Worldwide, The Times, The Telegraph, Metro, Gumtree, Which?, Lloyd’s List, Mumsnet and Centaur Publishing – alongside many more familiar names, plus some smaller but fast-developing enterprises.

Recognition for rapid online marketing development

QS’s online marketing team is one of six teams shortlisted for Marketing Team of the Year at the British Media Awards, in recognition of the company’s rapid development in the online marketing sector. 2013 saw QS invest in developing its two flagship websites, TopUniversities.com and TopMBA.com, as well as implementing new processes and trialling new initiatives across the scope of its online marketing activities.

This included a strong focus on SEO and editorial content production, PPC campaigns, optimization of onsite advertising, social media and emails, as well as community-building through the launch of user forums, regular blog contributors and member-only resources.

In addition to growing the online presence and readership of TopUniversities.com and TopMBA.com, the online marketing team also works alongside QS’s PR department and regional marketing teams to promote QS’s international events, rankings and research. The company’s best-known products and services include the QS World University Rankings®, QS World Grad School Tour, QS World MBA Tour and the Global 200 Business Schools Report.

Another award: QS’s innovative use of tap technology

The company is also celebrating a second exciting award nomination, having reached the final four in the 2014 Contactless and Mobile Awards, in the Innovation category. This nomination is in recognition of QS’s innovative use of tap technology at the university and business school recruitment fairs it hosts worldwide.

In 2013, QS introduced a new tap technology system at events such as the QS World MBA Tour and QS World Grad School Tour, to help prospective students connect easily and instantly with universities and business schools. The system works by storing each fair visitors’ details on a card, which can then be ‘tapped’ against a smartphone used by the university or business school representative, creating an instant record of their meeting and allowing the institution to easily contact the most promising applicants.

The results of this award will be announced on 29 April, so the next few months will hopefully bring even more cause for celebration.
