About
Nizhny Novgorod State Linguistics University (LUNN) dates back to 1917 and ranks as one of the four linguistic universities and one of the top 20 liberal arts institutions in Russia.
Today, the university combines the best features and practices of both the Bologna and traditional Russian educational systems and provides academic programs at all levels of higher and postgraduate education that are available in Russia: Bachelor’s, Master’s, Specialist’s, Standard Doctorate, and Higher Doctorate degrees. It also offers language courses and pre-university training.
LUNN welcomes over 3000 students and provides programs and courses in 16 foreign languages, as well as Russian for international students.
The students take part in annual joint programs with partner universities abroad. As of 2018 the university signed the ERASMUS+ agreement for the mobility of students and staff. LUNN maintains effective function of over 50 international agreements on students' and professors' academic mobility, joint research and exchange programs.
LUNN is renowned as one of Russia’s leading universities for linguistic studies. It has the following schools: School of English, School of German and French, School of International Relations, Economics and Management, School of Continuing Education and Professional Re-training and a School of Interpreting and Translation. The majority of academic programs are also offered through distance learning.
Research is one of the core activities of LUNN faculty and students. LUNN research is organized and arranged in due accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation and the university’s Mission and Policy. The university welcomes overseas partners to participate in joint research in Humanities.
Academic programs are provided both on a paid and free-of-charge bases. The free-of-charge education is available to those international students who have been awarded state scholarships by the Russian Government or have won the right for state-funded education as the result of fair competition with the Russian nationals.
Our graduates work in almost every sphere of economy both in public and business organizations, including the UN, Strasbourg Court, multinational corporations, local and federal authorities etc.
