After receiving accreditation on December 9, 1979, the Graduate School of Seoul Women's University started in March 1980. It was based on the educational ideology of Korea and spirit of Christianity. Dr. Go, Hwang-Gyeong was the first dean. In the past twenty years, the Graduate School has been educating and researching academic theories and their applications in anticipation of the future society based on information and technology as well as industrial technology. Thus it has been cultivating leadership ability in students and training professionals equipped with wisdom, virtue and ability, who can contribute to the development of the nation and human society. Offering 26 different master's courses and 13 doctoral courses as of the year 2002, the Graduate School has produced 1,168 students with master's degrees and 158 PhD's, while conferring honorary doctoral degrees to 11 students of both domestic and foreign origins.
