Based in Ekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk Oblast, The Ural State University of Economics (USUE) is one of Russia’s most prominent universities. Founded in 1967, the university consists of seven different faculties: Economics, Finance, Management and Global Economics, Commerce, Engineering, Extra-Mural Faculty, Institute of Reduced Program.
Since its opening, the university has trained more than 450,000 students with approximately 15,000 students currently enrolled. USUE states that its aim is to produce graduates capable of applying their knowledge and skills to managing the Russian economy and defending human rights and civil liberties.
Students here will find lots to occupy their spare time while living in Ekaterinburg (sometimes stylized as Yekaterinburg), the “third capital of Russia”. With an estimated population of nearly 1.5m, the city has developed into one of the most important economic centers in the country and is also home to some of the tallest skyscrapers in the country. Sports fans may recognize some of the city from the 2018 FIFA World Cup, as four games were hosted at the city’s Central Stadium.
