Waseda University

After completion of our analysis and distribution of the fact files to all featured institutions, Waseda University informed QS that the dataset they submitted contained an incorrect figure for their faculty member count. This discrepancy has positively affected their result in the Faculty/Student Ratio indicator, (while it negatively affected the International faculty indicator), and therefore their position in the overall table.

Though the QS Intelligence Unit carefully audit all data submitted by universities, the discrepancy between Waseda University's year-on-year faculty figures was not sufficient so as to reasonably suggest that such an error had been made, and it was therefore not identified as such until Waseda University contacted QS.

Both QS and Waseda University have taken appropriate steps to acknowledge the role that this error has played in the latter's year-on-year rise. This error has now been corrected and future rankings will reflect the accurate figure. Had Waseda University submitted the correct information on time for the analysis of this edition of the rankings, they would have risen six places to 202.
