PolyU students can live either on-campus or off-campus. International students can apply to live on-campus at one of the university’s two halls of residence; HungHom Halls, and Homantin Halls.

The university’s main language of instruction is English, so those who wish to enroll in a degree program will need to have proven language proficiency. If your first language is not English, you will need to meet the university’s requirement for the TOEFL or IELTS:
- TOEFL minimum score of 80 for the internet-based test, or 550 for the paper-based test (for undergraduate, master’s and PhD)
- IELTS score of at least 6.0 (for undergraduate and master’s)
- IELTS score of at least 6.5 (for PhD)

Tuition fees for international students at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University also vary between programs.
The average tuition fees for full-time undergraduate students are HK$140,000 (approximately US$18,000) per academic year.
