QS’s online marketing team were proud to be named finalists in the 2014 British Media Awards, in the Marketing Team of the Year category. While missing out on the overall award, the team still beat off some pretty impressive competition to reach the final six teams shortlisted.

Aiming to recognize innovation in the media sector, the British Media Awards cover all aspects of the industry, including print, online, sales, products, events, launches, branding, technology and editorial campaigns. QS was shortlisted for its rapid development in the online marketing sector last year, which included the re-launch of the company’s two flagship websites, TopUniversities.com and TopMBA.com.

The online marketing team’s work spans editorial content production and SEO, social media and email campaigns, PPC, onsite advertising and community growth through the launch of new user forums, blogging communities and exclusive reports and downloads.

Supporting QS’s global research and events

The diversity and international scope of the online marketing team’s remit reflects the global outlook and wide-ranging activities of the company as a whole. Probably best known for its research and rankings – which include the QS World University Rankings® and the Global 200 Business Schools Report – QS is also a leader in the field of higher education recruitment.

Each year the company hosts hundreds of university and business school events around the world; the QS World University Tour, World Grad School Tour and World MBA Tour provide opportunities for prospective students to meet leading institutions from multiple countries all in one venue.

The new ‘tap technology’ used to facilitate rapid data-sharing at these events has also led to an award nomination; QS recently reached the final four in the Innovation category of the 2014 Contactless and Mobile Awards.

Celebrating innovation across the media sector

Held in central London, last week's British Media Awards ceremony celebrated pioneering work across the media industry, with speeches that looked ahead to upcoming trends while also casting an eye back to a time when publishing involved a typewriter, a bicycle and a good selection of colored pens.

The prize-giving was hosted by journalist and presenter Jeremy Vine, who admitted to not always being entirely au fait with the latest technologies – though all too familiar the sleepless nights that can come from setting up a Google Alert on your own name… Among the winners were Google (Advertising Technology Provider of the Year), The Guardian (Media Brand of the Year) and BBC Worldwide (Commercial Campaign of the Year).

Proud to be included among such impressive competition, the QS online team is looking forward to more innovations and exciting developments in the coming months – watch this space!
