Top veterinary schools in the US & Canada
The US claims an impressive 18 representatives in the ranking, eight of which are in the global top 20. Outside the top 10 (above) these are Michigan State University, the University of Minnesota, Ohio State University and Colorado State University.
Meanwhile neighboring Canada is home to three top veterinary schools – outside of the University of Guelph in the top 10, these are the Université de Montréal (48th) and the University of Calgary (49th).
Top veterinary schools in Europe
Seven more of the world’s top universities for this subject are found in the United Kingdom, including four in the top 10 (above). These universities are joined in the top 20 by the University of Glasgow (17th).
Elsewhere in Europe, the Netherlands’ two top veterinary schools both feature in the top 15, with Utrecht University in the top 10 and Wageningen University at joint 15th, up from 19th last year. Also in the top 15 is Denmark’s sole representative, the University of Copenhagen (13th).
Fellow Nordic countries Norway and Sweden also feature in the ranking with one entrant each - the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science (44th) and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (28th).
Belgium, Germany and Spain offer two top veterinary schools each, with Belgium’s University of Ghent ranked 20th, Germany’s Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München joint 25th and Spain’s Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona 33rd.
Finally, Austria and Ireland have one top veterinary science school each, with Ireland’s University College Dublin the highest ranked of the two at joint 29th.
Top veterinary schools in Australia & New Zealand
Australia is home to four of the world’s top universities for veterinary science, with the University of Sydney just missing out on a spot in this year’s top 10 in 11th. Also featured are the University of Melbourne (joint 15th), the University of Queensland (32nd), and Murdoch University (=41st).
New Zealand has one entrant in this year’s ranking, Massey University, which is ranked 23rd.
Top veterinary schools in the rest of the world
In Asia, both Japan and South Korea enter the ranking this year with one entrant each: Japan’s University of Tokyo is ranked joint 34th, while South Korea’s Seoul National University is 50th.
Brazil is the only Latin American country to feature in the ranking, with two entries: Universidade de São Paulo (USP) (ranked 38th), and Universidade Estadual Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (47th).
