Nothing is being lost in communication in California, where the University of Southern California has maintained its vice-like grip on the number one spot in the Communication & Media Studies subject ranking. USC is one of 14 American universities in this year’s top 20.

One of the most improved universities in this year’s ranking is Goldsmiths, University of London which has soared up 19 places to eighth position. The only other university to climb into the top 20 this year is the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) which is ranked 20th.
