University of Pittsburgh remains the best place in the world for the next Socrates or Sartre, with University of Oxford and New York University (NYU) placing second and third.

37 different countries are represented in this year’s Philosophy subject rankings, with the UK and US dominating the top 10. The highest climber in the top 50 is the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) which is placed joint 30th.
