Adnan Menderes Üniversitesi

Founded in 1992, Aydin Adnan Menderes Üniversitesi takes its name from the former Turkish Prime Minister Adnan Menderes. Menderes is notable for being one of the founders of the Democrat Party. He died after ten years in office when he was hanged following a coup, making him the last Turkish political leader to be executed after a military coup.

The university has an extensive range of faculties, including the following: Tourism Faculty, Medical School, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Söke Business Administration Faculty, Kuşadası Maritime Faculty and Faculty of Health Sciences.

The university is based in the city of Aydin, which is in a region of Turkey famed for its fertility. Figs, in particular, are a local specialty. The region is also famous for pioneering the railway network in Turkey and has the densest concentration of railroad in the country.
