About
Benguet State University is nestled in the heart of La Trinidad, Benguet, the strawberry capital of the Philippines. Formerly, the Mountain State Agricultural College (MSAC), the college was converted into a state university on January 12, 1986, by virtue of Presidential Decree (PD) No. 2010 signed by President Ferdinand E. Marcos.
The University has three campuses- La Trinidad, Buguias and Bokod campuses with each of the campuses offering undergraduate courses. In addition, the La Trinidad campus offers graduate and open university courses.
The University strives to be an epitome of quality education, quality service, sustainable and transparent development, relevant research and extension activities and strong partnerships. At present, BSU is awarded Level IV, the highest category in the State Universities and Colleges leveling classification by the Commission on Higher Education. Most of the degree programs both in the undergraduate and graduate level have attained accreditation as evaluated in areas such as faculty, students, research, extension, physical facilities, laboratory, library, and administration. The College of Teacher Education attained Center of Excellence while the College of Agriculture and College of Home Economics and Technology- Nutrition and Dietetics are Centers of Development. The University is also ISO 9001:2015 certified in the areas of academics, research and extension and administration, and finance. In 2017, the University was given the Tanglaw Award for being an Outstanding Research Institution. Being a relevant partner in the community, the University was also awarded Level II Historical Site. Other citations include PRIME HRM Maturity Level II for service to its clienteles, enGAS and eBudget System Forerunner Award and Freedom of Information Compliant. With 8 colleges, 3 institutes, graduate school and open university, there are currently 30 undergraduate degree programs ( La Trinidad), 34 graduate degree programs, and various certificate and open university programs.
Benguet State University strives to holistically develop its students to be able to venture to many possibilities. Curricular programs, student services, and extra-curricular programs are provided and monitored to focus on cognitive, physical, mental and emotional development. The University education stays true to its commitment to be a venue of diverse experiences for a more fulfilled education.
