About
The COCHIN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY was established in 1971 as University of Cochin, which was a commitment from the Government of Kerala in tune with the new scientific policy resolution adopted by the Central Government on 4th March 1958. "Development of higher education with particular emphasis on post-graduate studies and research in applied science, technology, industry and commerce" was the specific intent of this venture. The University of Cochin was reorganized as Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in February 1986. The University now has three campuses, one at Thrikkakara and another named Lakeside campus at Ernakulum and then a rural campus at Pulinkunnu, Alappuzha, the 'rice bowl' of Kerala. Located 12 km north of Ernakulam city, the main campus at Thrikkakara houses the Administrative Buildings of the University and various Departments.
The University's basic philosophy and goals find eloquent expression in its Coat of Arms emblazoning the motto 'Tejaswinavadhitamastu' which in essence means 'May the wisdom accrued deify us both - the teacher and the taught’ - and percolate to the universe in its totality.
The Syndicate, Academic Council and Senate are the Principal Authorities of the University. Syndicate is the Chief Executive Body which meets every month. The academic structure comprises of 9 Faculties which are listed below:

The University also has Boards of Studies in different Faculties. 27 teaching departments/ schools are under these faculties. Several Departments are supported by UGC- SAP and DST-FIST. Specializations are available in almost all Faculties for higher studies and research.
Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) as its name indicates gives prime focus to Science and Technology. In addition, adequate importance is given to disciplines like Social Science, Humanities and Law. In the Higher Education domain of our country, we perceive a distinct role by offering Graduate, Post Graduate and Research programmes relevant to Science, Technology and allied fields which have wide acceptance.
In the recent years, CUSAT has started advanced centres to promote research with assistance from UGC and other Central Funding Agencies. Advanced Centre for Atmospheric Radar Research (ACARR) with S-T Radar facility for conducting research in Atmospheric Sciences, an Indo – US program awarded to the National Centre for Aquatic Animal Health (NCAAH) with the objective of bringing in innovations in the field of Marine Sciences, Knowledge Acquisition and Upgradation of Skilled Human Abilities and Livelihood (KAUSHAL) for promoting entrepreneurship and encouraging skilled knowledge are a few worth mentioning.
Centre for Innovation, Technology Transfer and Industrial Collaboration (CITTIC), Technology Business Incubator (TBI) and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) are devoted to promote students entrepreneurship in this University.
National in character and international in pursuit of excellence, this University has been in the forefront in forging collaborative research programmes through large number of MoUs signed with institutions of international repute....
