According to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture Ranking, Omsk State Agrarian University named after P.A. Stolypin is in Top-10 leading agrarian higher education institutions in Russia. It was founded in 1918, so it is also the oldest University in Omsk. The University has been developing and continuously establishing new educational programs and exploring new fields of research. 

Omsk SAU consists of 7 faculties: 

  • Agrotechnological Faculty;
  • Faculty of Agrochemistry, Soil Sciences, Ecology, Environmental Engineering, and Water Resources Exploitation;
  • Faculty of Veterinary Medicine;
  • Faculty of Land Management;
  • Faculty of Technical Service of Agroindustrial Complexes;
  • Faculty of Zootechny, Merchandising, and Standardisation;
  • Faculty of Economics.

Omsk SAU has 6 academic buildings on its primary campus. There is also the Tara branch of the University, Institute of Veterinary Medicine and the University College of Agribusiness.

In total, there are 57 undergraduate and postgraduate study programs. Postgraduate programs play a vital role in the Omsk SAU curriculum and among 7373 Omsk SAU students 152 study for a doctoral degree and 1432 - for a master's degree.

Among the Omsk SAU teachers, 14% are PhDs and over 85% have degrees or academic ranks. Omsk SAU is determined to be accessible to all categories of students. Scholarships are available, and tuition fees are relatively low. Up to 68% of students come from rural areas. 

Omsk SAU pays great attention to ecology on the campus territory. The main building is surrounded by several hectares of forest consisting of spruce and birch trees. Wildlife still can be found there, though the campus is located in the city center.

Omsk State Agrarian University acts as a base for non-educational activities. There is a volunteer center "Globus", where students cooperate to assist those in need and participate in events like Christmas or the Victory Day. Also, in 2018 there were 17 creative groups of different types, and almost 380 students were able to share their artistic talents. Students of Omsk SAU are able to participate in Russian Student Squads and sports events that regularly take place at the University.

University infrastructure is well-developed. Students and employees can live in one of 10 Omsk SAU dormitories located near the main buildings. The dormitories are properly equipped and designed to make living comfortable. Omsk SAU is located not far from main roads and students and teachers are able to commute by buses. 

The University closely cooperates with more than 100 higher education institutions abroad. The percentage of foreign students reach 12%.
