Swansea is Wales’ City of Culture. It may be a small city, but it has a big personality! You can walk or cycle to most places in the centre (and the coast for that matter) from the university campuses.

20,000 students from all over the world call Swansea their home. The University spans two stunning campuses at each end of Swansea’s waterfront. Singleton Park Campus is set in mature parkland and botanical gardens, overlooking Swansea Bay beach. Bay Campus is located on the beach on the eastern approach into Swansea.

The City Centre has a great selection of shops, restaurants and bars; shop big high street names as well as independent boutiques, specialist shops and traditional arcades. You can visit designer boutiques in Mumbles, vintage outlets in Uplands or pick up a bargain in Wales’ largest indoor market in the heart of the city. The modern waterfront development boasts a brilliant café scene and the best museums to explore, including the Dylan Thomas Centre and the National Waterfront Museum (which is free!).

The city is also right on the beach – and further along the coast it just gets better. Gower has the kind of bays that postcards will never do justice. Epic Three Cliffs Bay and Rhossili grab the spotlight, but there are also countless coves to explore. You can even get involved in kayaking, surfing and coasteering; there’s plenty of adrenaline-fueled activities to try out if that’s your thing.
