Located in the Indian city of Mumbai, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences is Asia’s oldest teaching facility for social work, having been founded in the mid 1930s. The university has existed on its current campus since 1954, although it was expanded in 2001. There has also been a rural campus in Tuljapur since 1986 and two more campuses were opened in Guwahati and Hyderabad in 2011. Over 4,000 students are taught across all these locations, with the majority studying at postgraduate level.
