Universidad Alberto Hurtado (UAH) was founded in 1997 by the Society of Jesus with the purpose of building on the research and graduate programs initiated by the Latin American Institute of Doctrine and Social Studies (ILADES), the Center for Research and Education Development (CIDE) and Roberto Bellarmino Foundation which commenced in the middle of the sixtiesSince its founding mission, UAH has been conceived as an institution with a strong vocation for public service. Its contribution to the human development and the promotion of a more just society, both in Chile and Latin America, becomes visible through the excellence level of an academic, intellectual and professional work, characterized by a Christian, humanist, pluralist vision and a deep ethical and social sense. Currently UAH has more than 4,500 students enrolled in 28 undergraduate programs, 18 master’s degree, 41 certificates and one PhD., consolidating itself as one of the main universities in the following areas: Social Sciences, Humanities, Philosophy, Education, Law and Psychology.The Internationalization is another distinctive element of our academic project. Universidad Alberto Hurtado actively participates in different university networks such as the Association of Universities Entrusted to the Company of Jesus in Latin America and The Caribbean (AUSJAL) and the Chilean Chapter of Catholic Universities. It also maintains a close relationship with several North American institutions belonging to the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) network, and became part of the Latin American Network of Social Engagement and University Volunteering (REDIVU).UAH is located in a historical preservation neighborhood whose architecture dates from the early 20th Century. At more than 322,000 ft2, Universidad Alberto Hurtado has consolidated a Campus in downtown Santiago de Chile, expression of its integrative vocation and open to students from all over the city. ____________________________________________________________________________Fundada en 1997 por la Compañía de Jesús con el propósito de extender la labor de investigación y postgrados que venía realizando desde mediados de los años sesenta, a través del Instituto Latinoamericano de Doctrina y Estudios Sociales (ILADES), el Centro de Investigación y Desarrollo de la Educación (CIDE) y la Fundación Roberto Bellarmino.Desde su misión fundacional la universidad ha sido concebida como una institución con una fuerte vocación de servicio público. Su contribución al desarrollo de la persona y a la promoción de una sociedad más justa, en Chile y América Latina, se materializa a través de un trabajo académico, intelectual y profesional de excelencia, caracterizado por una visión cristiana, humanista, pluralista y con profundo sentido ético y social. Actualmente, la Universidad Alberto Hurtado cuenta con más de 4.500 estudiantes en 28 programas de pregrado, 18 de magíster, 41 diplomados y un programa de doctorado, consolidándose como una de las principales universidades en las áreas de ciencias sociales, humanidades, filosofía, educación, derecho y psicología.La internacionalización es otro elemento distintivo de nuestro proyecto académico. La universidad participa activamente en distintas redes universitarias. Destacan la Asociación de Universidades Confiadas a la Compañía de Jesús en América Latina (AUSJAL) y el Capítulo Chileno de las Universidades Católicas. Además mantiene vínculos con varias universidades de la Red AJCU (Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities) de Norteamérica y se incorporó a la Red Iberoamericana de Compromiso Social y Voluntariado Universitario (www.redivu.org). La UAH se encuentra ubicada en un barrio de conservación histórica, cuya arquitectura data de principios del siglo XX. Con más de 30.000 metros cuadrados, ha consolidado un campus en el centro de Santiago de Chile, expresión de su vocación integradora y abierta a estudiantes de todos los sectores de la ciudad.
