The Federal University of Itajubá (Universidade Federal de Itajubá – UNIFEI) is one of the most prestigious and reputable engineering universities in Brazil. It stands out for being a pioneer in teaching Mechanical and Electric Engineering, and is considered one of the first Brazilian technological universities.

Founded over 100 years ago, UNIFEI continues to evolve, uniting tradition and modernity. The university is constantly renewing itself by creating new courses such as Production Engineering, Environmental Engineering and the first Water Engineering course in the country.

UNIFEI currently offers over 50 undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate courses in both its campuses, located in Itajubá and Itabira. It also offers distance education, having centers in five different cities.

UNIFEI caters to over eight thousand students, its faculty consisting of 60% PhDs and 37% hold a master’s degree. Its facilities include more than a hundred laboratories supplied with state-of-the-art technology, and a library with over 200 thousand books plus a digital database for advanced research.

Throughout its existence, UNIFEI has reached national and international recognition, generating and spreading knowledge – education, research and extension -, as well as being responsible for inserting highly skilled professionals in the worldwide job market and for taking important initiatives to improve quality of life and societal progress.
