Pompeu Fabra University is a public institution located in Barcelona, Spain. First opened in 1990, the university has grown over the last 30 years and now provides education for approximately 14,000 students - 10,000 undergraduate and 4,000 postgraduate. There are three main campuses at the university, each covering a specific subject area. Those three subject areas are: social sciences and humanities; health and life sciences; and ICT and communication sciences.
The university places great emphasis on its research capacity. Research produced by the university can be split into eight areas: economics and business; law; political and social science; humanities; experimental sciences and health; ICT; communication; and translation & language sciences. This last research area is particularly fitting as the university takes its name from a famous Catalan linguist.
