Beyond Bath
Bath is a convenient gateway to the beautiful South West of England, and it’s easy to explore the region from the train and coach stations in the city centre. You could visit the wild Jurassic coastline of Dorset and Devon, surf in Cornwall, or visit the nearby cities of Bristol and Cardiff. If you want to travel further afield, you can get direct trains and coaches to London, Birmingham, and Heathrow Airport.
The University's campus is set on attractive rural grounds overlooking the historical city of Bath. Over the past decade, the University of Bath has invested over GBP 450 million in a range of high-quality facilities for its main campus. This includes new accommodation, academic buildings and sports facilities such as an Olympic legacy-swimming pool and a Gym and Fitness Centre expanded over three floors. You don't have to walk far to reach facilities including:

- the Students' Union (The SU) - the SU building has food outlets, pub, nightclub

Whether you are on campus or in University buildings in the city, you'll have the support of our Security team, day and night. All security staff are trained in first aid and mental health first aid. They can offer welfare support and help you with crime prevention.

Student's Union
The University of Bath Students' Union is run by elected student officers and is dedicated to helping students make the most of their time at the University while promoting their interests and welfare. The SU team organises regular social activities, like pub quizzes and club nights in the SU bars, and one-off music, cultural and sporting events. They also support the University ’s many clubs and societies. There are more than 180 student groups to get involved in, from cultural and politics societies to arts and sports clubs.
Sports and fitness
You can join one of the 49 sports clubs run by the SU. Each club welcomes new members, whether you're a novice or a professional. You can use the Team Bath Sports Training Village (STV) to keep fit, play sports, socialise, and get training and fitness support from expert members of staff, whatever your ability. Many of these facilities are free of charge with your Sports Pass, which is activated through your student library card.
Arts community
Managed by the SU, our campus creativity and wellbeing hub, The Edge, offers performance, rehearsal, and workshop spaces where you can et involved and enjoy arts, culture, an d wellbeing activities.
The city
Bath is a lively, friendly city, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, both as one of the Great Spas of Europe and for its Roman heritage and Georgian architecture. Bath has a friendly community atmosphere and is ranked the second safest university city in England and Wales (Complete University Guide 2023).
Small enough to explore on foot, you can discover its beautiful stone buildings and the natural hot springs which gave the city its name. Indulge yourself in year-round arts festivals, museums, galleries , and the spa and get involved with the local community with our great volunteering opportunities. Bath has a bustling nightlife with lots of restaurants and pubs, bars and a good standard of live entertainment. The city also has cinemas and theatres.
