The University of Szeged (SZTE) is is located in Szeged at the Southern border of Hungary. It is said to be the safest city in Hungary and a popular university town in Europe.
The University offers more than 60 full-time international degree programmes at Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral level in English as well as in German and French. There are students from all over the world and the number of international students reaches 4,000 from about 130 countries.
Available scholarships at the University of Szeged include the Stipendium Hungaricum and the Visegrad Fund which enables students from across the world to attend the university.

SZTE is often referred as the city within a city since its buildings are located close to each other. The Universities have 12 faculties and each faculty has its own buildings.
SZTE boasts central Europe’s biggest university library, the SZTE Klebelsberg Library with nearly 3 million documents across four floors. In fact, the library is often listed among the 50 most amazing university libraries in the world.
Students can utilize a number of facilities to make their time at SZTE a little easier:

There are 4,0000 International students from about 130 countries, making up 20 percent of the student body.
SZTE offers a number of cultural and sporting programs throughout the year in the town and the university, including the International Cultural Event (ICE) where students and ambassadors are also invited.
SZIN (Youth Days of Szeged) takes place on the bank of the river Tisza every August where attendees can enjoy concerts across four days.
Student residence is usually provided to international students who have obtained a governmental scholarship. Others may rent an apartment and may use the assistance provided by the University to find their accommodation.

• What is the status of planned campus admission open days/tours?
An online open day has been organized for interested applicants to health related programmes, and about 80 prospective students participated. Not any open day or campus tours have been cancelled yet. We are trying to reach our prospective students via online solutions (presentations and image videos sent to agencies) platforms (profiles on educational platforms, social media) etc., but this was the case before the pandemic situation.
• How can applicants contact the university about their application?
There are several online platform dedicated to prospective students (social media, Dream Apply, Website, e-mail, telephones, and some online advertisements and their contact forms). The entire application procedure has been conducted via the online application platform Dream Apply, where the applicants can track each and every stage of their application.
• How is the university handling applicants whose exams have been cancelled?
No any entrance examinations have been cancelled. In case of health science programmes the examinations are going to be conducted online (both written and oral examinations).
• What advice is the university offering to applicants unable to take an English-language test due to centers being closed?
In most cases applicants need to undergo an entrance examination which is conducted in English language, therefore if it is needed the University is ready to organize an online examination for the assessment of the applicant’s English language skills.
• How is the university supporting applicants whose visa applications have been delayed?
Unfortunately the length of the pandemic situation is unpredictable, therefore we do not have exact information on that. Certainly, we are doing our best to assist students in obtaining their visas on time.
• Is the university still accepting applications?
Certainly.
Are there any restrictions being placed on international applicants?
No.
• How are applications for university accommodation being handled? Scholarship students are provided with the dormitory, otherwise students may find their accommodation in rented apartments/rooms.
• Is the university making any changes to entry requirements (i.e. test results, required documents)?
Certain documents (such as General Medical certificate, certificate proving mother’s maiden name) can be submitted at the time of arrival to Hungary and at the Academic Registration.
The application process varies by the programme, however there are certain elements of it which apply to each applicant.
