The Institute of Graduate Studies of UNNOBA was created in 2010. This academic unit is under the scope of the President's Office, as set forth in its Bylaws. It is responsible for planning, monitoring and supervising the curricular design of graduate programs.
The purpose of the Institute of Graduate Studies at UNNOBA is to contribute to professional update, training and continuing education; as well as to train highly qualified researchers, by fostering education and development of human resources related to different scientific disciplines. The academic proposals aim at analyzing current issues at regional, national and international level. For this reason, the academic offer has been thoroughly selected, with a focus on high quality education standards.
Through the Institute of Graduate Studies, the University addresses social needs and demands, as well as the rapid evolution in Science and Technology.
All the demands arising at the national level are taken into account in our graduate programs, placing particular emphasis on regional needs, through a careful selection of courses following high quality education standards.
The Academic Council of the Institute is composed of four renowned permanent members, who are mainly responsible for assisting and counceling the Director, head of the Institute, in the design, assessment and creation of graduate activities.
Graduate programs include the following:
a) Non-formal courses. Graduate activities with no degree awarded upon completion. They are aimed at training, updating and continuing education of professionals, professors and/or researchers, in a subject area. These activities comprise between 20 and 120 hours.
b) Graduate degree programs:
1. Specialization degree. Aimed at broadening theoretical, technical and methodological knowledge concerning one area or feature of a certain professional discipline.
2. Master's Degree. Aimed at offering high-level training in a specific or interdisciplinary field of study by broadening the theoretical, technological and professional knowledge in order to conduct research, study and undergo specialized training.
3. Doctor's degree. Aimed at developing and broadening a certain field of knowledge by making original contributions within a frame of high academic excellence. Said contributions must be expressed in a dissertation written by each candidate.
