Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University (ASMU)

Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University was founded in 1988 originally under name of Tarbiat Moallem University of Tabriz. In 2001, however, based on revisions of objectives and needs, the university transformed itself into an all-purpose university offering degree courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Since 2012 the university has continued its educational and research activities under the name of Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University at the main campus located about 35 kilometers southwest of Tabriz. Currently, about 6500 students of which 17000 are postgraduate, study within 7 faculties with 46 department and 2 research institutes with 8 research groups. The total number of full time academic staff is 273.

in 2018, according to ranking by ISC, Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University ranked 16-20 among national state universities. Also, according to ranking by World University Rankings/Times Higher Education (THE),  Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University ranked 801-1000.
