Gifu University is a medium-sized national university corporation based in Gifu, a historical city located geographically in the center of Japan. Although it began in 1949 with two faculties the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Agriculture the university has expanded to include three other faculties : the Faculty of Engineering the School of Medicine and the Faculty of Regional Studies. In 2004 the Faculty of Agriculture was restructured into the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences.We have approximately 800 teaching staff, including 294 professors and 800 medical, technical and administrative staff. There are approximately 6,000 undergraduate and 1,600 graduate students. In addition, 62 international undergraduate and 255 international graduate students are currently studying at our campus.
