GNU was initially founded as Jinju Provincial Agricultural College in 1948. Since then GNU has become the national flagship University, striving towards becoming a global institution in Gyeongsangnam-do, with 780 professors, 400 administrative employees, and an enrollment of 25,000 students. With the support of the central government, former GNU presidents, 100,000 alumni and our local residents, GNU enjoys a reputation as a leader in higher education.
Firstly, we will improve and expand our teaching system more efficiently, since we are responsible for educating our students properly and preparing them for their future careers upon graduation. Through specialized programs, we will be able to cultivate the creative and all-terrain professionals necessary for our society and for industry. Secondly, we should consistently seek out alternative ideas in economics, politics, culture and knowledge by perfecting our education and positioning ourselves as a local think tank. To do this, we will need to extend our support for integrated research, promote collaboration with industry, and expand our international research networks. Thirdly, GNU will expand its local services and cooperate with local governments and industries so that we can become a leading symbol for invigorating local areas. This will be possible through Jinju’s Innovative Construction project, the building of a second GNU Hospital in Changwon, the Gyeongnam Techno Park project and the National Aviation Industrial Complex project.
