Established in 2000, ifs internationale filmschule köln is consistently ranked as one of the best film schools in Germany, based on its outstanding student support, excellent teaching and project work, and active festival participation, including a Student Academy Award in 2012. In cooperation with the Cologne University of Applied Sciences, the ifs offers Bachelor’s degree programs in Screenwriting, Directing, Creative Producing, Director of Photography, Editing Picture & Sound, and Digital Film Arts, as well as an international M.A. in Serial Storytelling and Digital Narratives, and is currently developing several new master’s programs. In addition, ten further education programs provide training in a wide variety of disciplines, ranging from Production Design to Interactive Media. Through its joint study structure for future screenwriters, directors, producers, cinematographers, editors and visual artists, the Film Studies Program with a specialization in Screenwriting, Directing, Creative Producing, Director of Photography, Editing Picture and Sound, Digital Film Arts, provides a job-oriented specialization as well as promotes a common understanding of narrative material, dramaturgy, artistic expression, and production strategies. Since 2002, we admit to the program approximately 8 - 10 students per specialization every 2 years, who graduate with a »Bachelor of Arts« degree.
