ITMO University is a national research university founded in 1900. The main campus is located in the heart of St. Petersburg, steps away from the Peter and Paul Fortress. ITMO University is one of the leading higher education institutions in Russia, providing training and research in advanced science, humanities, engineering, and technology. Its main focus areas are IT, Photonics, Optics, Mechatronics, Robotics, Smart Technologies, Art & Science, and Urban Studies. The university offers undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate (PhD) programs.

Our new approach to learning, ITMO Code, programs the University of the Future, focusing on the individual and providing a wide range of opportunities for holistic, multi-faceted development.

ITMO Code builds on the values of respect for the individual, integrity, academic freedom, openness, and love. It blends fundamental and unique competencies and also recognizes the importance of professional and soft skills, which is a completely new area for Russian universities. Starting from the 2018-2019 academic year, soft skills are part of ITMO’s core curriculum.

Our biggest and boldest project right now is ITMO.Highpark, a $650 million development that will serve as the university’s new campus and a major cluster for education, research and innovative manufacturing in St. Petersburg.

ITMO University loves to break new ground and is serious about the results. Our students are the only team in the world who has won the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) seven times.
