There are over 9000 students studying a wide range of undergraduate programs, with a small international cohort. Students are recruited from both vocational and general high schools. Students can study courses ranging from electronic engineering to languages. The aim of KAO TECH is two-fold, to impart a specific skill set to students for their future careers, and to create well-rounded individuals with transferable skills to meet tomorrow’s challenges. These efforts are supported by the Ministry of Education; grants to support academics’ continuous professional development, and centers of excellence such as the Southern Taiwan Teaching/Learning Resource Center. Moreover, courses are developed in close collaboration with industry to ensure skills imparted with are aligned with industry requirements. All undergraduates are required to complete an 18 week internship program, placed in the industry of their choice. In the spirit of internationalization, students are encouraged to expand their worldview by taking part in exchange programs with our sister universities, and are provided with study abroad options. Moreover, students are supported by a range of scholarships provided by alumni, government and KAO TECH. As English is the lingua franca of our globalized world, students must reach a minimum proficiency of TOEIC400 (750 for English graduates).
