In 2010, Belgorod State University became the only academic institution of higher education in Belgorod region, as well as in the Central Federal District (except Moscow universities), to be granted the “National Research University” status, which allowed the University to join the Association of the Leading Universities of Russia, with the Association current membership totaling to 40 best national universities.
Since 2009, the University has been a member of The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Network University, in the priority area of Nanotechnology.
The Quality System Management at Belgorod State National Research University is recognized by its partners from 35 countries using IQNet (USA, France, Belgium, Portugal, China, Germany, Austria, etc.) in designing, developing and carrying out educational activities in the spheres of high, higher, postgraduate and additional professional education, research and innovations.
Currently, the Univrsity is offering 53 master's degree programs, 58 Post-graduate (PhD) degree programs in 30 scientific areas, 7 higher doctorate programs, 34 residency training programs and 20 internship programs (the latter two for medical graduates). There are 53 areas of reasearch which the scientists of the University are currently engaged in. As of 2016, There are 15 Dissertation Councils at the University.
