Petrozavodsk State University was founded in 1940. The university includes Kola branch located in Apatity (Murmansk region), 10 institutes and more than 40 international, regional and innovation centres, training and production facilities, Publishing house, Scientific library (one of the largest libraries in the European North of Russia), Botanic garden and swimming pool “Onega”. In Petrozavodsk the University has 8 campuses. PetrSU is included in the top 100 best universities in Russia. Nowadays the number of teaching staff is about 1000 people (529 Candidate of Sciences and Associate Professors, 138 Doctors of Science, over 90 Professors, 10 members of the Russian Academy of Sciences). More than 17000 undergraduate and postgraduate students study there. The university comprises 80 chairs, 10 faculties and 7 institutes. It won the leading places by the “internationalization» criterion and the third place among the universities that promote employment of students and graduates. It has 87 international agreements with foreign universities, research organizations and scientific-and-production companies of Finland, Canada, the USA, the Great Britain and Italy.
