The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) has been at the forefront of educating healthcare professionals since 1784. It began by being the home of surgical training for Ireland and now the college reflects the diversity of healthcare professions and focuses on improving healthcare training to yield improvements in patient outcomes.

Why Choose RCSI?

  • RCSI is focused exclusively on educating healthcare professionals and the College’s teaching staff are experts in healthcare education. The RCSI Health Professions Education Centre ensures that students experience the highest international standards of teaching, learning and assessment using innovative methods and the latest technologies.
  • RCSI has a strong focus on developing the clinical skills of its students. Developing these skills has become increasingly difficult set against the background of more patients being treated in the hospital setting on a day case basis. To address these challenges the College is investing €70m in a new Academic and Education building. Due to be completed in early 2017, the facility will provide unparalleled medical teaching facilities including the largest dedicated clinical simulation facilities in these islands.
  • Early clinical exposure and heavy involvement in teaching from clinicians are central components of the RCSI curriculum delivery.
