Saitama University is the only national university in Saitama Prefecture, which borders the north of the Tokyo metropolitan area. The University is located in the western outskirts of Saitama City, the capital of Saitama Prefecture. Saitama City is thriving with more than one million inhabitants; it is the largest municipality in the northern Kanto region. As a comprehensive institution, Saitama University has set the following goals, in line with its key policies of cultivating human resources as the mainstay of a civil society and generating knowledge and technology in response to the demands of the day. Saitama University is a comprehensive university with 4 graduate schools: Graduate Schools of Science & Engineering, Economics, Education, and Cultural Science.
