Centrally located in the heart of Southampton, Solent University is a dynamic, modern university dedicated to academic excellence, social justice and the integration of theory and practice.

As an international university with over 160 years of history, Solent University is home to around 11,000 students from over 100 countries, studying everything from HNDs to PhDs, and offers cutting-edge facilities.

Real world experience is built into innovative courses in business, technology, art and design, media production, maritime, the creative industries and sport. With a brand new sports complex, maritime training simulator and nursing suite on campus, Solent offers a modern learning environment designed to prepare students for life after graduation. The University will also be opening a new digital innovation hub later in 2019, which will provide students and businesses with access to state-of-the-art technologies and software in gaming, computing, augmented reality, virtual reality and artificial intelligence.

Solent University works closely with the community and employers, creating opportunities for our students to gain valuable learning experiences. Our media and journalism students work at Glastonbury each year; our business students get to work and run our own retail store at a nearby shopping centre in Southampton; our maritime cadets can take advantage of our multimillion pound training simulator (that comes equipped with a Force 7 gale for those with sea legs!); our music students get to work with the cream of the music industry; and our drama students get workshops from famous names from the world of stage and screen.
