Sulaimani Polytechnic University

Sulaimaniya Polytechnic University (SPU) is one of the public academic institutions among 14 institutions led by Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research MHE-KRG and a member of the International Association of Universities (IAU). It is located in the city of Sulaymaniyah, Qirga neighbourhood in Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It was founded in 1996 under the name of Foundation of Technical Institutions, and then in 2003 it was changed to Foundation of Technical Education in Sulaimani (FTES), after that it was restructured to Sulaimani Polytechnic University SPU in Aug 2012.

SPU is consisted of 5 colleges and 8 institutes (67 scientific departments), one English (IELTS) language and one Research Centre, range from a variety of specialties including Engineering, Health, Medical Science, Agriculture, Business Administration, Computer Science, Technological Colleges and Institutions. Main language of instruction and teaching is in English.

SPU currently has around 13,500 undergraduate students(morning & evening time) (Technical Diploma and Bachelor) with 462 faculty staff and other 200 faculty visiting staff and 160 Master & PhD Post graduate Students inside Iraq and abroad.
