Founded in 1948 just off the picturesque Lake Chekha, the Ukrainian Sumy State University ranks among the top 100 universities in the emerging Europe and Central Asia region in the QS University Rankings: EECA 2016 and among the top 1000 universities in the QS World University Rankings® 2018. Rated three QS stars, Sumy State University has achieved the maximum five QS stars in the following categories:

Sumy State University serves over 16,000 students, 1,300 of whom are international and from over 50 different countries. The International Cultural Centre and Foreign Communities’ Leaders Council runs over 40 creative workshops, sports groups, art studios and vocal, musical, ballet, theatre, film and photography clubs. A few Sumy State University students have even gone on to win prizes at the Olympics, as well as the World and European Championships. Sumy State University offers a good range of bachelor’s degrees and PhDs in English. In total, the university offers 45 majors across 21 fields of knowledge.
