Tashkent State Agrarian University

The formation of Tashkent State Agrarian University was closely linked with name of Mirzo Ulugbek National University, founded in 1918 by local intellectuals, as many other Central Asian universities. In the 1920s, there were 8 faculties among them there were agricultural one. On May 26, 1930 on the basis of this faculty, the Central Asian Agricultural Institute was established and after some changes, it was renamed the Tashkent Agricultural Institute in October 1934. In April 1991, the university received the status of Tashkent State Agrarian University. This status was given to only 8 of the 104 agricultural higher educational institutions in the CIS for its achievements in training, science development, scientific and pedagogical potential, quality improvement, development and strengthening of material and technical base. The activity of higher education is closely connected with the history of our country, its agriculture, economy, culture and development of higher education. The University has become a major educational and scienti?c center in Central Asia for agriculture. The constant care provided by the state, thanks to great scientists and highly quali?ed teachers in the higher education institution, and their productive work were accumulated in TSAU.

In addition, along with training for their country from 1946 to 1993, the Tashkent Agricultural Institute prepared 1039 specialists with higher education for 71 foreign countries, 207 PhDs and doctors of science for 40 countries. Ill specialists from 25 countries improved their qualifications at the university at the departments, and 615 specialists from 75 countries were trained at UN courses at the university from 1976 to 1990. Even before the independence, the Tashkent State Agrarian University, named the Tashkent Agricultural Institute, was one of the successfully operated leading agricultural universities of the Union. This is evidenced by the fact that in 1977 and 1981 it was awarded the Challnge Banner following the All-Union competition, and in 1978 and 1982 it was entered into the Book of Labor Glory of Uzbekistan. In 1980, the university was awarded with the Order of Friendship of Peoples Order.

In Tashkent State Agrarian University, there are 3 branches (Nukus-2003, Termez-2017, Andijan-2018), 1 Academic Lyceum, 4 Centers, 6 faculties and 30 departments. There are 20 directions of  undergraduate education, 5225 students, 23 masters specialties, 215 undergraduates 215;

1 directions for special distance education (10 students), 13 directions of correspondence education (390 students), 10 directions of the second higher education by correspondence (339 students), 14 foreign students, 5 educational directions in the field of joint program (120 students),  3 masters specialties, 27 students master' degree. There are 502 professors and teachers at the university; 46 of them are doctors of science, professors, 207 are candidates of science, associate professors.

The total area of Tashkent State University is 28,8 hectares. There are 11 educational buildings, 5 students hostels, 1 Information Resource Center, a students' canteen with 360 seats and 6 aditional buildings at the university. The total area of  educational buildings is 602771.90 sq.m
