Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent (TPUT) founded in 2009 as a non-profit public higher education institution in Tashkent. Politecnico di Torino (Italy) and TPUT signed a Cooperation Agreement and Double Degree Agreement that aims to develop HE curricula in Engineering BS and MS in Uzbekistan in accordance with the Italian HE system and acknowledged from both, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Education of Republic of Uzbekistan and the Italian legislation.
Nowadays, it is one of the prestigious university in Uzbekistan in Engineering for education and research. The main objective of the university is to train highly qualified specialists for the automotive, mechanical and civil engineering industries in accordance with educational programs approved by Politecnico di Torino (Italy) and generally recognized international requirements for the quality of higher education, as well as goals and objectives of the National program on personnel training of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In order to harmonize the differences between the HE curricula in the two countries (Italy and Uzbekistan) TPUT and POLITO came to the agreement to adopt EU curriculum with some changes made for fitting it into local educational standards. One of them is to introduce additional Preparatory Year to fulfil the Italian requirements for a minimum of 12 years in LE and carry out the most relevant needs in the preparation of incoming students. Existing curricula at TPUT can be applied as a unique experienced in bridging different educational structures and be used for project goals realization.
The TPUT Course Catalogue offers programs internationally recognised, fully English-taught courses from undergraduate to Ph.D. level, in Engineering. TPUT has about 1800 students and about 90 teaching staff from them 55 % of professors are from Italy providing high quality education. To extend the horizons of the students and encourage mobility, TPUT has more than 20 international agreements with foreign universities. In addition, TPUT offer great support services for international students such as help for accommodation and practical matters (visa, residence permits, health insurance, etc), assistance in administrative procedures, linguistic mediators and welcome activities.
Moreover, today being one of the most equipped universities in Uzbekistan, TPUT is involved in several international projects on education and development and organizes many open door activities and conferences to promote cooperation and involvement of companies around Uzbekistan in educational practice. Employment rate of university is almost 100% thanks to the UzAuto, GM Uzbekistan, MAN Auto-Uzbekistan, “GM powertwain Uzbekistan” and local companies providing auto-components.
