The Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería, translated in English as The National University of Engineering, is located in the capital city of Nicaragua, Managua. The university has two campuses in Managua and three institutions outside the city. Their motto is ‘Líder en Ciencia y Tecnología’ (‘Leader in Science and Technology).
Established in 1983, the university is home to 10,880 students in six faculties. These are the Faculty of Architecture, the Faculty of Sciences and Systems, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, the Faculty of Construction Technology, and the Faculty of Industry Technology.
The university’s headquarters are in the cultural and economic capital of Nicaragua, Managua. The largest city in the country, students who go to university here can enjoy year-round temperatures of between 28 and 32 degrees celsius (80 to 90 degrees fahrenheit) owing to the tropical climate. Managua is also home to many international companies such as Wal-Mart, Telefonica and Parmalat as well as being the base of the major banks of Nicaragua.
