As an example of global architecture, the IULM University site adds further value to the excellence of its teaching. The university is on the American model and stands out as an ultra-modern complex, technologically advanced and equipped with structures and spaces to provide space for studying, research and also for being together.
Designed by Roberto and Lorenzo Guiducci and completed in 1993, the main building on Via Carlo Bo is IULM University's core nucleus. It is coated on the outside by red bricks and surrounded by a porticoed courtyard, and ties in harmoniously with the architectural traditions of Milan. Internally a system of escalators connects the the building's six floors, which have been furnished according to a chromatic study to optimize concentration and study.
Since 2000 a garden and six new buildings housing lecture rooms, research departments-institutes, the university library, catering facilities and the student residence have been constructed around the main building. A mosaic of spaces further enhanced by the recent inauguration of the IULM 6 Building, an architectural masterwork designed by Studio 5+1AA of Gianluca Peluffo and Alfonso Femìa.
With two new modern Auditoriums and an outstanding exhibition area, the complex completes the IULM Campus, enriching it not only with new spaces and services, but also with a highly original creative note, in a constant dialogue between the academic hub and the city.
