The National Polytechnic Institute of Lorraine, University Henri Poincaré, University Nancy 2 and Paul Verlaine University Metz have started to work more closely together with the prospect of creating one University of Lorraine.
In concrete terms, this means complete coverage of all areas of learning: science, health, technology, engineering sciences, human and social sciences, law, economics, management, the arts, humanities and languages; and an ever-increasing number of bridges between establishments and between disciplines, enabling students to adapt their study route to suit their personal development.

The University Henri Poincaré works in the fields of the sciences, health and technology; the University Nancy 2 in the areas of human and social sciences, law, economics and management, and the National Polytechnic Institute of Lorraine in the field of engineering sciences. These three establishments cater for more than 39,000 students, to whom they offer:

more than 400 diplomas (all study programmes)
dynamic research with 63 approved laboratories and 7 doctoral schools
an important engineering hub with 10 engineering schools
