Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) opened its doors in 1985 as the country’s premier national university. Guided by its four core values - people, expertise, relevance and leadership – in 2009, UBD implemented the groundbreaking GenNext Programme, which provides undergraduates greater flexibility in tailoring studies with opportunity to leave the classroom in their 3rd year at UBD, the distinctive Discovery Year. During Discovery Year, all undergraduate students are given the opportunity to choose to study abroad, undergo an internship at relevant agencies, contribute to community outreach programmes, or explore entrepreneurship possibilities allowing them greater adaptability, independence and drive to succeed.
