TheUniversity of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) is the largest, top ranked highereducational institution in agricultural sciences in Pakistan. It offers MSc,MSc (Hons), MS, MPhil, MBA, M.Com, MBIT and PhD programs in various disciplinesof Agricultural Sciences, Animal Sciences, Social Sciences and Basic Sciences.The university has extensive endowment of qualified human resource, farmfields, laboratories, herbarium, botanicals and fruit gardens, forest and greennurseries, animal houses, poultry, dairy and livestock farms, veterinaryhospitals for teaching, training and research and development. The UAF is alsohost to various DAAD funded projects including ICDD (International Centre forDevelopment and Decent Work), academic and research exchange between Norway,France, Turkey, Malaysia etc. The ICDD program is lead by University of Kasselwith other partners, one each from Pakistan, India, South Africa, Kenya, Braziland Mexico.. The Faculty at UAF competes for winning research projects.Currently the faculty is taking up more than 450 externally funded projects of about2100 million rupees. There are 100 plus PhDs working in research institution atFaisalabad, which are being engaged. Stakeholders from industry, farmingcommunity, Employers of the graduates from Public and Private Sector and CivilSociety have been included as members of the boards for regular and annualcomprehensive meetings for SWOT analysis to make education and research evenmore relevant. All PhD exams and thesis defence have been made accessible toall universities and HEI through Video Conferencing facility. Participants fromacross the country can now discuss, contribute, and evaluate the PhD candidatesto ensure transparency in research system. The use of Video Conferencingfacilities (No. 5) at UAF has been enhanced for conducting online researchlectures, seminars and meetings, offer complete credit courses. It has producedmore than 80,000 graduates including about 45,000 postgraduates. Nearly 1600PhDs have completed their degrees from this University. Currently more than 800PhD students are on the university rolls in various programs with >400 HECscholarship holders. While UAF offers PhD Fellowships to the meritorious students.
