Most of our doctoral candidates pursue their research within one of ourdoctoral programs or graduate schools. We offer a total of about forty structureddoctoral programs, embedded in nine faculty and discipline wide graduateschools, which are tied together under the umbrella of the Albertus MagnusGraduate Center (AMGC). The AMGC provides a central platform for all doctoralstudents and doctoral programs. It is the first contact point for all studentswho wish to pursue a doctorate at the University of Cologne. It provides acomprehensive academic and professional skills development program for doctoralresearches. It supports the internationalization of the doctoral student bodyby funding research stays abroad, summer schools, language courses andworkshops to acquire intercultural competencies. In addition to hosting socialevents throughout the year, the AMGC also organizes Welcome Days for newlyincoming doctoral researchers, helping to integrate them into the Colognegraduate culture.
