The language of instruction at the University of Neuchatel is French, with the exception of modern languages (in English, German or Spanish) and of some Master courses/programmes (in English).
Bachelor degree: The first cycle of basic higher education, the Bachelor degree (university baccalaureat), corresponds to 180 ECTS credits (obtained, in theory, over 6 semesters). This degree is the first step of basic scientific training, enabling the student to develop a scientific methodology.
The Bachelor diploma is a prerequisite for Master degree level study, and is required in order to change the place or field of study. Those who have acquired a Bachelor degree may also, in certain cases, decide to enter the world of work.
