About
The University of Stirling is a truly global institution committed to helping students make a positive difference in the world.
The University is proud to provide students with an outstanding education founded on innovation and excellence. Stirling is a place where everyone is treated with respect, and where ability – not background – is valued.
The University's focus is on helping students to be the difference in their chosen field and, over 220 flexible course combinations to choose from, Stirling equips individuals with the knowledge, expertise and lifelong employability skills needed to stand out from the crowd. That's why more than 97% of Stirling undergraduates are in employment or further study within six months of graduating (Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education survey 2016/17).
Stirling's students, graduates and staff make a positive impact internationally. The University celebrates that global outlook, with more than 120 nationalities represented on its diverse, inclusive and multicultural campus.
The University’s beautiful 330-acre campus offers an unrivalled living and learning environment. Stirling's facilities were rated five-star in the QS World University Rankings 2020, along with the University's teaching, employability, inclusiveness and internationalisation. To further enhance its student experience, the University of Stirling has recently investing £41 million to create world-class fitness and high-performance sports facilities, as well as a new ‘Campus Central’ social and learning space. These projects have been shaped in collaboration with our students, staff and wider community.
If you’re into sport, you’ll love Stirling. As Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence, the University provides high-quality sports facilities for students, high-performance and Olympic athletes, staff and the wider community. Stirling's athletes enjoyed incredible success at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia, returning with an impressive total of 11 medals. The University of Stirling was named Sports University of the Year in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020.
The University of Stirling is also the home of Scotland’s National Swimming Academy, the Scottish National Tennis Centre, the Tennis Scotland National Academy and Triathlon Scotland. Stirling students rated the University's sports facilities – which include a 50m swimming pool and a golf course – first in Scotland and top 5 in the UK in the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey 2018. Those are just a few of the reasons the University of Stirling was named the UK's Sports University of the Year (Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020).
Our award-winning Students’ Union is the University’s hub, providing entertainment and welfare services to make your life at Stirling the best it can be. With over 130 clubs and societies to choose from, settling into university life couldn’t be simpler.
