Founded in 1984 by Dr. G. Viswanathan – the Chancellor of the university – Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is one of India’s premier institutions. Since 1984, the student body has grown from 180 students to 38,000 students from across the world.
There are four campuses in India: Vellore, Chennai, Amaravati, and Bhopal.

- VIT provides seed money to carry out research in emerging and socially relevant fields.
VIT has 200 student clubs and chapters, student counsellors, grievance cell, woman grievance cell, student mentoring system, digital library, digital parents monitoring systems, 24/7 security on campus and accommodation.
