ICT conducts Masters and doctoral programs in various disciplines of chemical technology, biotechnology, chemical engineering and pharmacy along with basic sciences such as chemistry, physics and mathematics. Several programs are interdisciplinary in nature and a few such as 'Perfumery and Flavour Technology' are one of its kind in the world (www.ictmumbai.edu.in/uploaded_files/Admission_Handbook_2018-2019.pdf ). Besides, integrated masters and integrated PhD programs are offered in all the three campuses of ICT, of which two have recently started functioning. Following are some of the salient features of the PG courses:
i) PG students work on projects sponsored by industries, research institutes, and leading government organizations
ii) All the labs in ICT run 24/7, providing students flexibility in working. Highest priority is given in safety and security of students working in labs.
iii) All the PG students go for internship/industrial training for minimum 3 months at the end of Sem II to work and solve industrial problems, develop new processes, while simultaneously getting an experience of working in an industrial environment.
iv) There are more labs than classrooms indicating a deeper focus on practical learning.
ii) All PG students deliver a seminar in Sem I on new emerging topics. A research paper based on the seminar is given for critical analysis to develop critical, logical and analytical thinking in the Sem I itself
iii) Choice based electives are offered to all PGs, one each in Sems I and II.
iv) A course on ‘Research project-1’ and 'Research project-2' is introduced in Sems I and II to enable focusing on the available literature, gathering thoughts on the proposed research topic, and start planning for the same. This is evaluated by a group of faculty.
v) Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular/co-curricular activities through platforms such as music club, sports club, literature club etc.
vi) Industry defined problems (IDP) program is run every year to give students an exposure to technical issues faced by the industries and offered an opportunity to provide innovative solutions.
vii) Students are encouraged to participate in symposiums, seminars and conferences, not only in India but also overseas.
viii) The students are encouraged to publish their work in internationally renowned journals and even file patents.
ix) PGs are sensitized towards social responsibility by encouraging participation in activities such as 'Joy of Giving', blood donation camps, training slum children, tree plantation and many more.
x) Almost 10-20% PGs continue for higher studies
xii) Placement activities are planned meticulously at the Institute/Department to ensure 100% placement, mostly in chemical and allied industries.
xiii)Endowment lectures by faculty enable sharing their experience and expertise with young PGs which moulds their thought processes to tackle tricky problems
xiv)A strong alumni network assist the PGs in training and placements by counseling and conducting soft skill programs
xvi) A state-of the art library which is open on 363 out of 365 days in a year with access to e-resources enables learning at will
