ICT conducts Undergraduate (UG) programs in i) Chemical Engineering (75 seats), ii) Pharmacy (30 seats), and iii) seven branches of Chemical Technology (125 seats) [(a) Dyestuff Technology, b) Fibres and Textiles Processing Technology, c) Food Engineering and Technology, d) Oils, Oleochemicals and Surfactants Technology, e) Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology, f) Polymer Engineering and Technology, and g) Surface Coating Technology] . Following are the salient features of the UG programs at ICT:
i) All UG students undergo a three month industrial training at the end of Sem VI.
ii) All UG students have to give a seminar in Sem VII on new emerging topics which keeps them updated with current knowledge.
iii) Choice based electives are offered to all UGs, one each in Sems VI, VII and VIII to encourage students to work in interdisciplinary sciences.
iv) A group project is undertaken by 6 UGs belonging to different Departments to stimulate creativity, simulate industrial environment, and encourage startups besides fostering an effective learning environment.
v) Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular/co-curricular activities through platforms such as music club, sports club, literature club and many more.
vi) Industry defined problems (IDP) program is run every year to give students an exposure to the technical problems faced in industries and offered an opportunity to provide innovative solutions. They are monetarily rewarded by industry for providing the same.
vii) Students are encouraged to participate in symposiums, seminars and conferences, not only in India but also overseas.
viii) UGs at the end of Sem IV are encouraged to undertake summer research projects with faculty both within and beyond ICT. In fact, some of the work done by the UGs are also published in peer reviewed international journals.
