Founded in 1920, the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU, Lietuvos sveikatos mokslų universitetas) today is the largest institution of higher education for biomedical sciences in Lithuania, successfully integrating studies, research and clinical practice. LSMU consists of two main academies: Medical Academy and Veterinary Academy.
A large number of the most popular programmes are taught in English and accept international students. LSMU continuously increases the number of degrees offered in English with a target to reach 50 percent of the total number. LSMU holds more than 7,000 students in its first cycle, second cycle and integrated programmes. Representing over 50 different countries, one in every seven students comes from abroad. The majority of international students study Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine.
